Music Magazine Cover

I took a photo shoot in my village during sunrise on a winter morning. The sky was pink and it had been snowing and was frosty throughout the night so the mis-en-scene looked fabulous. I live in the countryside with lots of land and horses therefore I thought this would be a good place to set my photo shoot. I actually used two different locations for this particular shoot. The first one is in a field, I did this because the tree's were white and looked nice with the pink sky, the second was in the horse field out side my house. I used this location because it kept the country element to the image without needing specific clothing. I didn't want to stick to the stereotype country artist in my photo's so I didn't use elements such as cowboy boots and hats in my photo's but I kept the natural landscapes. Also, because my magazine is on it's winter edition, my cover photo needed to reflect that therefore I waited for the weather to freeze then used it as my landscape.  I was lucky to get this landscape but I think it works well. Here are the photo's I took with out any editing.
In the mid shot photos I tried to capture the eyes with an intense look just like the image on the bilboard magazine.

I wasn't sure what name to call my magazine so I asked people my favourite names to see which ones they like the most. I asked lots of people, mostly people who listen to country and indi music though because they understand the music more and are more likely to read my magazine. The most popular one was Steel Guitar so i've gone for that as my masthead. My original names were; Stetsons and Guitars, Steel Strings, Us Country, Sliders and Steels Guitar.

For preparation of my Magazine, after picking the Main image I decided to pick my Out of bound zones for the lay out of my text. I decided to go for just the face because It's what gives the eye contact to the reader to draw them to the magazine.

These are my first drafts with different layouts and colours. Most of these have to much space on them and the spacing doesn't work. I like the positioning of the bottom right hand cover 'Cassidy Jones' because it works well with the main image as it doesn't distract from it but shows that the main image is what the anchor  is talking about.

Here are some examples of different colours and fonts I have tried out for my sell lines. I tried different colours to see witch ones stood out more as a whole on my page. It also helped me to decide an over all colour scheme for my front cover.

After deciding that there was to much unfilled space on the page so added some more featured items to the cover then moved things around so that it looked more professional. I spent over 10 hours moving the layout around and I have over 25 different versions. 90% of the people I asked said that this cover was their favourite.
This is my Final front cover
